Re: Calamity / Disaster Claim Notice
Property Owners who were affected by the recent fires in Madera County and have suffered a disaster or calamity as defined in Revenue and Taxation Code Section 170 (such as fire, earthquake, flood or accident). Due to such loss, you may be eligible for property tax relief.
To qualify for property tax relief, you must file a claim with the county assessor within 12 months from the date of damage or destruction. The loss estimate must be at least $10,000 of current market value to qualify the property for this relief.
In such cases, the county assessor will immediately reappraise the property to reflect its damaged condition. In addition, when it is rebuilt in a like or similar manner, the property will retain its prior value (Proposition 13) for tax purposes.
This property tax relief is available to owners of real property, business equipment and fixtures, orchards or other agricultural groves, and to owners of aircraft, boats, and certain mobile homes – it is not available to property that is not assessable, such as state licensed mobile homes or household furnishings.

BASS LAKE HOME TOUR – NEW DATE
The Bass Lake Home Tour originally scheduled for Saturday, September 9th was postponed until Saturday, October 7th.
Because of air quality, road closures and general uncertainty due to local wildfires, the Lions Club decided to reschedule the annual event on Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 3pm.
Included in this year’s tour is the lovely, “fully-automated” Duhn lake front home on Mono. This tri-level home features a circular wet bar, ice cream parlor and private theater with three oversized flat screen TV’s. Outside you may enjoy the kidney shaped spa with waterfall, over-water deck and new private boat dock. It is an amazing home!
Several other custom homes will also be graciously offered for touring by their owners. Self-guided tours will begin in The Pines Village at Bass Lake beside the Bass Lake Realty office. The Lions Club will prepare and serve a delicious BBQ hamburger lunch, included in the price, for tour participants from 11 am – 2 pm.
The Bass Lake Home Tour was proposed as a way for the Lions Club to continue funding its charitable activities. Proceeds from this year’s tour will benefit people affected by recent local fires. This annual fund raising event is sponsored by the Bass lake Lions Club in conjunction with Bass Lake Realty. Donation boxes are available at the Bass Lake Realty office where you may drop off clothing, canned goods and household supplies now through, Monday, October 9th.
Advance ticket purchase of $20.00 per person (adults only) is available from any Bass Lake Lions Club member or from the Bass Lake Realty office in The Pines Village. Tickets are $25.00 per person on the day of the event. Further information is available by calling Bass Lake Realty at 559-642-3600.

Here is an important notice from Visit Yosemite:
The Oakhurst office of the US Forest Service is CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. It will reopen in April, 2017.
For those wanting wilderness permits, woodcutting permits and campfire permits, the nearest office is the Bass Lake Ranger District in North Fork, open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Note that the last day to secure wood tags is November 30.
Permits to burn brush are available from the Fire Department, by True Value.

RE: Tree Mortality Funding: Private Landowner Assistance
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in California released a notice on Friday that they are expanding their initiative to assist private forestland owners in addressing tree mortality and other drought-related damage to improve forest health. NRCS will provide financial assistance for landowners with dead and dying conifer forest trees in certain counties. Removing dead tree debris and other woody material will also help reduce the spread of invasive pests and reduce the threat of wildfire.
Landowners with dead trees on non-industrial private conifer forestlands in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Kern, Lake, Los Angeles, Madera, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Tulare and Tuolumne counties may be eligible for financial assistance.
